Valuable Brush Training Gained at Camp Pendleton
The Camp Pendleton Fire Department hosted members of the LAFD for their prescribed light brush burn on April 27. This planned and controlled burn is a part of on-going efforts to manage and reduce the fuel buildup of light vegetation along strips of land that serve as protection buffers between larger and denser wildland areas at Camp Pendleton that host a variety of protected plants and animals. These hazard reduction burning techniques give LAFD members valuable experience in backfiring work, wildland fire behavior and brush fire safety protocols.
